Tips on How to Choose Baby Clothes

Tips on How to Choose Baby Clothes

We all want to give our babies the best thing we can give. Here in this article, I will share some tips on how to choose baby clothes and I hope they can help you.

Be careful about the colors.

Be careful when the clothes are too colorful or too bright. They might contain some toxins which are safe to grown-ups but very harmful to babies. We suggest you choose baby clothes which are in light colors such as white or light beige, which are comparatively safer than those in dark colors.

Be careful about the materials.

I think it is common sense that we should choose baby clothes which are made of pure cotton. Cotton baby clothes allow the skin to breathe freely and they are softer than any other clothes. When babies are wearing clothes which are made of pure cotton, they will feel more comfortable and easier to move and learn.

Be careful about the buttons and zippers.

For little babies, it is not a good idea to choose clothes with buttons or zippers. Babies are so curious that they might try to put the colorful buttons into their mouths. This is very dangerous so try to avoid clothes with buttons.

Zippers are also dangerous for babies because zippers might hurt their skin and fingers. Generally speaking, we recommend clothes which are tied from the behind which are much safer.

Be careful about the prices.

Babies grow fast and sometimes you need to buy new clothes for him every month. That’s why you have to take prices into consideration. However, we don’t recommend you buy those clothes which are too cheap because safety is the most important issue for your babies.

Buy at least 4 more pairs of socks than you actually need.

You should prepare more socks than you really need. This is because the socks are easy to fall off and you might ignore them. We suggest you buy socks with elastic bands which should be neither too tight nor too loose.

Choose clothes that can be washed by washing machine.

Most of your baby clothes should be easily washed and dried by washing machine. You will find it too difficult for you to wash all the clothes by hand because your baby might produce a ton of dirty clothes every day.

Certainly, you can buy some clothes for special occasions which need to be washed by hand.

After all, the first thing you should consider is safety when you buy baby clothes. Buying baby clothes online may be a good choice on the premise that you find reliable sellers.…

Mario Batali – Well Known in His Chef Pants

Mario Batali – Well Known in His Chef Pants

Mario Batali is a critically acclaimed chef and restaurateur, an award-winning author, and a well-known and beloved television personality in uniform polo shirt. Mario Batali is one of the most widely-recognized and respected chefs who work in America today. He was raised in Seattle, and studied the golden age of the Spanish Theater at Rutgers University. After he graduated he entered culinary training at London’s Le Cordon Bleu, but he immediately withdrew due to a lack of interest. After an apprenticeship with legendary London chef Marco Pierre White, and three years of intensive culinary training in a tiny village in northern Italy, he had built a solid foundation of essential culinary skills and knowledge. He returned to his native America eager to refute the checkered tablecloth image of Italian restaurants. Working with his business partner, Joe Bastianich, Batali has created a super-successful culinary and restaurant empire embracing New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Singapore. The flagship restaurant was award-winning Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca in Greenwich Village, opened in 1998, where Batali seamlessly combined the principles of traditional Italian cuisine with intelligent new culinary adventures. The James Beard Foundation haled it the Best New Restaurant of 1998; and the New York Times awarded it three stars. Six years later a re-review maintained Babbo’s three-star achievements and its excellence compared to the finest restaurants in New York City.

Batali is chief in chef uniforms and also is the owner of Lupa Osteria Romana, a Roman style trattoria which opened in 1999; and Esca, a seafood trattoria in southern Italian style which opened in the Theater District in 2000. In 2003, in collaboration with Joe Bastianich, he opened another downtown eatery, the Otto Enoteca Pizzeria, which is right around the corner from the historic Washington Square Park. In 2003 he opened two restaurants adjacent to Gramercy Park: Park Bar Jamon is a bustling tapas bar with a wonderful selection of Spanish cheeses, ham, and other small plate specialties; and Casa Mono, located next door to Bar Jamon, is a Spanish style taverna which features a fabulous array of tapas, traditional entrees, wines, and sherries. In 2005 the pair opened Del Posto, a spacious, luxurious, and comfortable restaurant located in New York City’s meatpacking district, which features modern Italian cooking. Batali’s first restaurant venture on the west coast was a collaboration with Nancy Silverton, the Osteria Mozza and the Pizzeria Mozza restaurants in Los Angeles. Both restaurants share the corner of Highland and Melrose Avenue, and both have been tremendous successes. Osteria Mozza features a center-island mozzarella bar where fresh mozzarella is made all day long every day. Last year they added two take-out locations, Mozza2Go and Scuola di Pizza. In his first-ever foreign venture, Batali will soon open Osteria Mozza and Pizzaria Mozza at Marina Bay Sands Resort Casino in exotic Singapore. Among the many accolades he has received in chef pants, Batali was named the 1999 Man of the Year in the …

How to Store Out of Season Wardrobes

How to Store Out of Season Wardrobes

Building your wardrobe costs a lot of money and protecting it should be a priority. Properly storing and caring for your garments will ensure years of good use. Clothes often become wrinkled and musty while in storage. Use these tips to keep your clothes in good shape and smelling fresh, whether you’re using them or not.

1) Hang your clothes while you store them if you can. Use a spare room, garage, basement, or corner of your bedroom to store a rolling garment rack. Hanging your coats, suits, and dresses will help them to keep their shape. Using a garment rack cover will help you keep dust off of your stored clothes and ensure that they’re not exposed to excess moisture.

2) Don’t you just hate it when you pull your clothes out of storage and they smell bad? You put them in clean, but they still come out with musty odors. Cedar hangers or cedar accessories absorb the moisture that causes this moldy mildew smell. This is more important if your stored clothes are near a bathroom, if you live in a humid climate, or if you store your clothes in a basement or garage. The deodorizing and moisture absorbing quality of cedar is what has made it so popular in closets across the globe.

3) You can store more items in a smaller space by using specialty clothes hangers. Space saving hangers are great for storage. They are slim, fit close together, and allow you to cascade items so that you use less space on the hanging bar. Choose slim hangers that are strong enough to hold up your garments without bending. If the clothes don’t hang properly from the hanger, they will get wrinkled while in storage.

4) Store items that you don’t want to hang, like sweaters, in vacuum sealed bags or plastic containers that seal. You can keep them smelling fresh by using used dryer sheets. Don’t use new ones, because they can leave a white waxy film on your clothes. Using containers that seal or cedar accessories ensures that moisture is not a problem for you.

5) Be creative when it comes to storage. There’s no need to fill up your closets with your out of season clothing. Store containers underneath couches, beds, in the garage, or install a ceiling bracket and hang them from there. Try not to use space in your every day closet and you’ll have more room than ever before.

6) Keep in mind that our body oils are left on clothes that we’ve worn. Make sure that you get suits, dresses, and sweaters cleaned before you store them. Body oils can cause damage to certain fabrics, attract moths and other pests, and make your clothes smell bad.

7) Use the clothes hangers that work best with your garments. Keep outfits paired with hangers that cascade or combination hangers. If you’re careful and follow these rules when storing your clothes, then they will …

Emeril Lagasse – Jollity in Chef Pants

Emeril Lagasse – Jollity in Chef Pants

Emeril Lagasse is one of America’s most celebrated celebrity chefs. Born on October 15, 1959 in Fall River Massachusetts, Emeril was raised by his Portuguese mother Hilda and his French Canadian father Emeril. He worked as a teenager in uniform work shirts in a local Portuguese bakery where he developed his life-long interest in cooking. At fourteen he enrolled in a culinary arts program at a local vocational high school, where he also played drums in the school band and played in a band at dances and parties. Upon graduating high school Emeril was offered a music scholarship to New England’s Conservatory of Music, but he decided instead to pursue a chef’s career by enrolling at the college of culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University in Providence. To help pay his tuition he worked at a local restaurant, where he met his future wife Elizabeth Kief. Over the next five years the couple had two children, Jessica and Jillian. Shortly after graduating college in 1978, the couple married and Emeril traveled to France in order to polish his skills.

Upon returning to the United States Emeril worked for several years in chef pants in some fine restaurants in the Northeast, and also Wisconsin’s Telemark Lodge under Tony Wise. In 1982 he was appointed executive chef at New Orleans’ famed Commander’s Palace restaurant. The demands of his job, which required Emeril to put in 18 hour days, strained his marriage and led to divorce. But it was at Commander’s Palace that Emeril began to achieve national fame, which led to his opening his own New Orleans restaurant – Emeril’s – in 1990, which emphasized Cajun and Creole cuisine. In its first year Emeril’s restaurant won Esquire magazine’s “Restaurant of the Year” award. Over the next eighteen years Emeril opened thirteen more restaurants.

Emeril began his television career on the show Great Chefs, where he appeared on ten episodes. After appearing on several other shows on FoodTV, Emeril began his own program, The Essence of Emeril. The essence in the show’s title refers to the name of a blend of spices which he employs frequently in his cooking, and which is available commercially in several different flavors. One of Emeril’s teachings is that all cooks should create spice blends for themselves, which reflect their own personal taste, to customize recipes. Emeril has been nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards eight times, but has not yet won. Emeril’s popularity as a television personality is due to his jovial style of hosting, as well as his famous catch phrases such as “feel the love”, “Bam”, and “kick it up a notch” which he usually says when he adds something spicy to a recipe. He exalts in using lard to fry or make sausage, with the war cry “Pork fat rules!” Emeril’s lively style in front of a studio audience led to his starring briefly in an NBC sitcom in 2001, but the show was canceled after only …

Mod Man: What Vidal Sassoon Taught Me About Storytelling

Mod Man: What Vidal Sassoon Taught Me About Storytelling

Once upon a time, there was a young salon apprentice who showed up to the beauty salon every morning in an immaculate white shirt.

Not a very remarkable start to a story or a career – unless the white shirt is laundered, pressed and starched amid the rubble of war-torn London- and the man is Vidal Sassoon.

Surely, Sassoon pioneered a new vision of beauty and amassed an impressive business empire. He also told a great story about a white shirt, and that’s what I remember about him today.

Eight years ago, Sassoon delivered the keynote speech at a beauty show. I was a reporter. Our paths crossed for 90 minutes.

I was impressed with him at the time. And today, as someone who writes about effective communication strategies, I am astounded by the staying power of his presence.

A white shirt was something of a daily miracle during World War II. At night, sirens raged, the city was shelled and Londoners took refuge in bomb shelters. Yet every day, they’d be crisply dressed and back to the salon, business as usual.

The white shirt, Sassoon explained, was a purposeful act of liberation in the midst of chaos. Before long, liberation would define Sassoon’s character.

I explained all this to my husband over the dinner table yesterday, as I read about Sassoon’s passing. I set down the paper and started talking – fairly convincingly – about the creative vibe of the West End, the bob, the five-point and the revolutionary idea of wash-and-wear style. I felt like I was raising a toast to an old friend.

So what did Sassoon do that day to build such a lasting impression? Here are some of the techniques used during his presentation, and the lessons I learned from them:

1. Setting context: His creativity didn’t happen in a vacuum. Sassoon talked about the tremendous energy of postwar London, and the convergence of pop art, carefree fashion for women and the personalities that drove the trends. It was like a trip back in time with the “man who styled the sixties.” While Sassoon had a long, varied and successful career, he purposely chose to capture a visual snapshot of this moment, not a documentary of his career.

2. Offering perspective: Sassoon detailed his fascination with modern architecture. Just as architects were stripping down unnecessary details from their designs, Sassoon focused on the bone structure of a woman’s face and created styles that were equally minimalist. Particularly striking were the photographs of building designs, and the hairstyles they inspired. He helped me draw new connections between beauty and architecture by explaining his viewpoint.

3. Providing some inside scoop: Everyone loves a look behind the curtains. And it’not name-dropping when your client list included Ava Gardener, Rita Hayworth, Mia Farrow, miniskirt designer Mary Quant and mod model Peggy Moffitt.

4. Building a cohesive story line: The trajectory started as a Jewish foundling, salon apprentice, fashion visionary, businessman …

Relating To Your One To Three Year Old Toddler

Relating To Your One To Three Year Old Toddler

Babies, toddlers and young children are constantly learning. A toddler, one to three years old, is learning to feed himself, to walk, to sleep on his own, to use the big boy potty, to play with other children, and assert his independence is some ways. Basically, children are trying to figure out where they fit in the family, and where they fit in the bigger community as well. While a normal part of growing up, this can scary for the toddler, as well as the parents. Realizing how a child develops between ages one and three will help you understand his behavior and help you relate better to him.

Children love to play games, even when you as the parent don’t realize you’re playing a game. Children learn through games and discovering new things. Children ages 1 – 3 generally have short attention spans and will easily move from one activity to another all through the day. Organized games should be age appropriate and have fairly simple rules. Giving children some small responsibilities at these ages, which are age appropriate, will help them find a role in the family. It’s never too early for children to learn simple chores like picking up toys when play is finished.

Toddlers will also begin asserting their independence by defying mom and dad. Often this defiance results in screaming, crying, and a very upset little boy or girl. It’s important for parents to continue to show authority and stick to their guns. Giving in to fits only reinforces the behavior in the child, and tells the child that with enough crying he or she gets the desired outcome. Gentle discipline (not punishment), lots of encouragement, and overflowing unconditional love are important at all stages of a child’s life, but especially while the toddler is learning to relate to you, other family members, and society as a whole.…
